Origins

Found two mini cooper s cars from a seller in Maryland (Peter), one 1966 MKI and one 1970 MKII. We came to terms, and shipped them via enclosed carrier to Bainbridge Island. They were supposed to be more or less original cars, with all numbers matching up, etc. Also very little of the typical mini rust, which is always a hard find.

The cars' ETA was 9/4, they finally arrived on 9/8. Cim (the driver, pronounced Kim) and I couldn't get the 1970 to start, and ended up towing it to the house. The 1966 started, and I managed to burn rubber up the ramp (inside the semi still) and then it ran out of gas. In the end it had to be towed home as well. Later that evening I drove the '66 around the block, and what a ride even in its rough condition! I was instantly smitten. Talk about motivation to get them on the road!! I still haven't gotten the '70 running, and would like to take it for a quick spin before I begin to tear it down. It will likely be the first to undergo restoration, so will be out of commission for the next several months.
